Embrapa selects scholarship for grain crop monitoring project via spatial and computational systems

Embrapa Digital Agriculture (Campinas/SP) is selecting a doctorate-level scholarship holder to work on a project to develop solutions for monitoring grain cultivation, based on the integration of spatial and computational systems. The scholarship is offered by the Research and Development Support Foundation (Faped). Registration closes on August 5th and must be completed on the foundation’s website.

The candidate must have a doctorate degree and five years of professional experience in research, development or innovation activities in the areas of Exact and Earth Sciences, Biological Sciences, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Sciences and other related areas. The Innovation Stimulus Grant offered, worth R$6.000,00, is expected to last 12 months.

Requirements for the position are to have experience in applying agricultural crop yield models, in the use of orbital remote sensing data, spectral indices and phenological metrics derived from time series of satellite images, in addition to advanced knowledge in data organization and manipulation. climate conditions, execution of agrometeorological models and/or energy balance models, and post-processing of results, preferably in programming in the R or Python language. It is also desirable that the candidate has experience in the development or use of agrometeorological-spectral models. The selection process will be carried out through the analysis of curricular information and an interview.

Among other activities, the fellow will collaborate with the calibration of the API Agritec agrometeorological model and the incorporation of phenological metrics generated from time series of satellite images, deriving an Agrometeorological-Spectral model for simulating agricultural crop yields.
