Agrivalle announces José Ovídio Bessa as new CEO
The goal is to become the most valuable bioinputs platform in the world
A Embrapa Digital Agriculture (Campinas, SP) is selecting a postdoctoral fellow to work on the research project “Sugarcane/Livestock Integration: Modeling and Optimization”, approved by the São Paulo State Research Support Foundation (Fapesp). The vacancy is open to any nationality and the deadline for registration is March 15, 2022.
The selected fellow will work on the implementation, evaluation and application of optimization and simulation models of integrated sugarcane/livestock systems in Brazil, in addition to collaborating with the writing of reports and scientific articles related to the scope of the project. The postdoctoral scholarship offered, worth R$8.478,26, is expected to last 24 months. In addition, the selected candidate will be entitled to a technical reserve equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the scholarship to be used for other expenses directly related to research activities.
The candidate must have a recently completed doctorate in the areas of agricultural sciences with a focus on integrated farming systems, such as crop-livestock integration (ILP) and crop-livestock-forest integration (ILPF). Experience with soil carbon and greenhouse gas (GHG) modeling and assessment of socioeconomic and environmental indicators of integrated farming systems will be evaluated.
It is also desirable that the candidate has knowledge in soil health principles, biogeochemical models, GHG emissions inventory, land use modeling, impacts of adopting more intensive and diversified agricultural management systems and tools related to technologies for monitoring and evaluate interactions in the soil-plant-atmosphere system.
Those interested in participating in the selection process must send their application to the email address luis.barioni@embrapa.br with CV (maximum four pages), a motivation letter describing experience and interest in the position (maximum one page) and two letters of recommendation.
The thematic project “Sugarcane/Livestock Integration: Modeling and Optimization” is linked to the Fapesp Bioenergy Research Program (BIOEN) and is led by the National Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM), with the participation of Embrapa Agriculture Digital.
The objective of the project is to work with models to assess sustainability and optimize the economic, environmental and social impacts of integrated systems for food and bioenergy production, involving the production chains of sugar cane, livestock and other agricultural crops.
