USDA maintains Florida (USA) crop estimate at 46 million boxes
United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) released this Friday (12) a new re-estimate of the 2017/18 orange harvest
The Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), linked to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa), opens a selection of seedling producers interested in multiplying and commercializing seedlings of the Conilon BRS Ouro Preto coffee cultivar, developed by Embrapa Rondônia. Legal entities and individuals registered in the National Registry of Seeds and Seedlings (RENASEM) can participate in the process, as producers of seedlings with qualifications for coffee growing.
In this process, Embrapa is offering 20 lots of cuttings of the 15 clones that make up the Conilon BRS Ouro Preto cultivar. Each batch will consist of 80 cuttings from each clone, totaling 1.200 cuttings, with a unit value of R$0,30 (thirty cents). Interested nurseries should send an email to francisco.correa@embrapa.br, with copy to cpafro.chtt@embrapa.br expressing interest. E-mails received until the batches are exhausted will be considered and producers will be served according to the order in which the e-mails were received. More information at Embrapa Rondônia, on telephone (69)3219-5036 or 5058.

Conilon BRS Ouro Preto Coffee
The Conilon BRS Ouro Preto coffee cultivar (Coffea canephora Pierre ex Froehner) is the first developed by Embrapa, being the result of a study conducted by Embrapa Rondônia in partnership with the Café Research Consortium, whose research program is coordinated by Embrapa Café. obtained by selecting coffee trees with characteristics suitable for commercial crops in the state and adapted to the region's climate and soil. Its name is a tribute to the municipality of Ouro Preto do Oeste, a pioneering center for the official colonization of the former territory of Rondônia.
Conilon BRS Ouro Preto is an intermediate cycle cultivar made up of a group of 15 superior and compatible clones that combine good agronomic and agro-industrial characteristics and grain production stability in the humid tropics and low altitude region of the Western Amazon. The clones of the cultivar are characterized by having medium to tall plants, a multi-stemmed crown, high vigor, oblong-shaped fruits, flat, long and narrow grains, typical of the 'conilon' botanical variety. Furthermore, it is tolerant to the main climatic stresses observed in the region's coffee growing centers. The average productivity of Conilon BRS Ouro Preto is 70 bags/ha in dryland or more than 110 with irrigation.
