About the strawberry cultivar BRS DC25 (Fênix)

BRS DC25 (Fênix) stands out for its early fruit production, which allows for a shorter interval between planting and harvesting and, depending on the region, increases the production window by up to seven months (from June to December). The cultivation recommendation is for the South and Southeast regions of Brazil.

The material also stands out for its balance between sugar and acidity, which results in fruits with a sweeter flavor, meeting national preferences. The fruits have good firmness, ensuring greater resistance to transportation and excellent post-harvest durability, with longer shelf life.

The variety tends to maintain good productivity of large fruits, with size stability throughout the season. The productive potential can reach 1,2 kilos per plant, depending on growing conditions. The fruits are large, with an average weight of 23 grams, and intense red in color, with a predominantly conical shape.

The new variety is the result of Embrapa's Strawberry Improvement Program. The development was carried out by Embrapa Clima Temperado (RS), in partnership with Embrapa Hortaliças (DF), Embrapa Meio Ambiente (SP) and Embrapa Uva e Vinho (RS).
