Protocol establishes measures to prevent cocoa disease from entering Brazil
Moniliasis, a disease present in neighboring countries, can be brought by human transport and presents a high risk of economic and social impact on cocoa crops
With the evolution of the problem of herbicide-resistant weeds, Embrapa Pecuária Sul and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa), with support from Senar (National Rural Learning Service), will hold a Course on July 17th , at Embrapa (José Mendes Barcellos auditorium), starting at 9 am. The objective is to technically train agricultural professionals, rural producers and students on weed resistance, focusing on the importance of adopting integrated management practices that aim to delay the evolution of new cases.
In addition to contextualizing the issue of weed resistance to herbicides, the event will present tools that make up integrated weed management, with reports on experiences, including from other regions of the State that also have difficulties in managing resistant weeds. Another point to be addressed is the herbicide-environment interaction, which is fundamental to ensuring the efficiency and sustainability of the use of chemical control.
According to Embrapa Pecuária Sul researcher Fabiane Lamego, the Course will present results of studies on the biology of weed species considered a problem in the context of plant resistance in soybean and irrigated rice crops (especially horseweed), in addition to suggesting management strategies and prevention of herbicide resistance in the context of crop-livestock integration (ILP). Finally, the event will address aspects of herbicide regulation in Brazil and future perspectives based on new technologies.
Registration is free and can be done by accessing the address www.embrapa.br/pecuaria-sul. Then access the link on the main page Course | Weed Resistance to Herbicides: Management and Prevention.
