Cooperativism contributes to the autonomy of rural women

Sustainability, research and innovation applied to the biological control of insect pests will be concepts multiplied during the course “Biological inputs: production and use of macro and microorganisms for the economic control of insects”, an event that begins on October 15th at Embrapa Corn and Sorghum (Sete Lagoas-MG). Lasting four days, the course aims to expand knowledge and adoption of sustainable technologies, through training multipliers, offering alternatives to the use of agrochemicals.
Therefore, the course will present tools that exist in nature itself to control the main pests that attack crops, whether microorganisms – such as viruses and bacteria – and beneficial insects, such as parasitoids and predators. Another topic that will be addressed, taking into account the positioning of biological control agents in the market, is the economic viability of implementing a biofactory, where insects and also viruses and bacteria, such as Baculoviruses and Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt).
Among the speakers are researchers Ivan Cruz and Fernando Valicente (Entomology area at Embrapa Milho e Sorgo), doctoral fellows and specialists from partner institutions, as well as entrepreneurs with extensive experience in implementing biofactories.
