Embrapa launches rice cultivar for rainfed areas
The BRS A 502 cultivar is an alternative for the cultivation of upland rice, mainly in areas under intensive agriculture
Embrapa is selecting postdoctoral fellows in Molecular Biology to work on a research project applying dsRNA for topical use. The selected professionals will work at the Embrapa Soja Plant Biotechnology Laboratory. The scholarship, worth R$5.000,00, lasts for 12 months, starting in August/2020, but may be extended, depending on the performance of the scholarship holder and the project. The scholarship holder will be linked to the project "Production of dsRNA via fermentation process and use of interfering RNA (RNAi) technology to control weeds, stink bugs, nematodes and diseases in agricultural crops of economic importance".
The details of the scholarship holder's work will be defined jointly between the selected candidate and the researchers participating in the project. The selected candidate will develop activities aimed at developing strategies for the synthesis of dsRNA or shRNA molecules and delivery strategies for these molecules to control insect pests and weeds. The candidate must have proven experience in Plant Molecular Biology and related areas.
Proven experience with work involving RNAi technology, preferably involving control of insect pests and weeds. Good teamwork, reporting and fluency in English skills.
Differentiators are considered in the selection process: good ability to critically analyze scientific articles, proficiency in design and delivery of dsRNA or shRNA molecules.
