Embrapa Meio-Norte donated to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA), this Tuesday (31/03), protective materials that will be used by agricultural inspectors who are working during the coronavirus pandemic.
The donation was made in response to a request from the Federal Superintendent of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply in the State of Piauí, Germano Coelho Silva Barbosa. 40 units of PFF2 respirators (N95 masks), eight boxes with 100 units of size M gloves and eight boxes with 100 units of size G gloves were delivered to the Federal Superintendency of Agriculture (SFA/PI).
Germano Barbosa informs that the material will be used by MAPA employees who are carrying out work that requires contact with the public and by those who continue their activities in external work (inspections, supervision and audits).
The Federal Government published a decree, on March 20, which defines public services and essential activities as sanitary and phytosanitary surveillance and certifications, the prevention, control and eradication of plant pests and animal diseases and international agricultural surveillance. As a result, a group of SFA employees in Piauí continue to work and need personal protective equipment.
For the general head of Embrapa Meio-Norte, Luiz Fernando Leite, at this moment, it is important to collaborate with all institutions that are maintaining essential services, contributing to the protection of professionals who are in activity.
