Embrapa Grape and Wine opens registration for 2nd Field Day

Embrapa Grape and Wine will hold the 4nd Embrapa Grape and Wine Field Day on February 5, 6 and 2 at its headquarters in Bento Gonçalves (RS). Places are limited and registration is free and must be completed in advance here on the website (www.embrapa.br/uva-e-vinho/dcinstitucional). The field day is an initiative that aims to present the latest technological solutions developed by the unit to producers, technicians and opinion makers linked to Brazilian winemaking.  

The event will feature the opening lecture "BRS Wines: Opportunity in a Scenario of Climate Change and Phytosanitary Threats", given by researcher Marcos Botton, and will feature 3 technical stations. At Station 1, participants will be able to learn about and taste juices and wines made with Brazilian cultivars, developed by Embrapa's Brazilian Grape Genetic Improvement Program. At Station 2, they will learn about the modular Lira: a new training system for grapevines. At Station 3, the focus will be on the importance and management of cover crops to protect the soil and ensure healthier and more productive vineyards.

In its second edition, the field day was conceived by the Head of Embrapa Grape and Wine as an opportunity to promote the dissemination of the Unit's technologies and bring Embrapa closer to producers and the wine sector, especially in RS. According to the General Manager Adeliano Cargnin, the field day will also be an excellent opportunity to kick off the celebrations for Embrapa Grape and Wine's 50th anniversary. “There is nothing better than starting 2025 by welcoming people to our company and presenting our technologies to producers in the year in which we celebrate 50 years of history. Therefore, we hope to see everyone directly or indirectly involved in the wine sector present,” he highlighted.
