Embrapa Grape and Wine celebrates 50 years of valuing innovation

In celebration of its 50 years of history, Embrapa Grape and Wine is holding a ceremony this Friday (29) marked by launches, tributes and the signing of new partnerships. Under the slogan “Embrapa Grape and Wine: 50 years cultivating knowledge and harvesting technology”, the event will take place from 14:30 pm, in Bento Gonçalves (RS). 

Among the new releases is Irrifert, an application developed in partnership with Agrimar, which arose from the need to offer apple growers in southern Brazil a practical and efficient tool for water and nutrient management. The result of over a decade of research on irrigation and fertigation in apple orchards, the tool brings together field-validated technical recommendations that transform complex calculations into accessible information, guiding precise water and nutrient management. 

Another highlight will be the 1st BRS Lorena Wine Selection, which seeks to enhance Brazilian flavor and highlight the potential of this 100% Brazilian grape, developed by the "Uvas do Brasil" Genetic Improvement Program. The event aims to encourage continuous improvement in the quality of wines and juices made with BRS Lorena, expand market opportunities, and promote the work of participating wineries. 

The samples will be blindly evaluated by experts, with awards being awarded in different categories, recognizing the excellence of the products with Silver, Gold, and Grand Gold Medals. The selection and awards ceremony will be held at Embrapa Grape and Wine headquarters in Bento Gonçalves, Rio Grande do Sul, in December.

Tributes:

The Embrapa Grape and Wine Partner Institution Award will be presented to relevant institutions in this journey. These include: the Brazilian Association of Apple Producers (ABPM), the Institute of Management, Planning and Development of Viticulture of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (Consevitis-RS), and the Brazilian Association of Producers and Exporters of Fruits and Derivatives (Abrafrutas).

The Friend of Embrapa Grape and Wine Award will also be presented to Prof. Ivanira Falcade (in memoriam).

New partnerships

Embrapa Grape and Wine will also sign strategic partnership contracts with Sicredi Serrana RS/ES and with the Trentino Circle of Bento Gonçalves and the Friulano Circle of Serra Gaúcha.
