Epamig restructures research programs in Minas Gerais.

The Minas Gerais Agricultural Research Company (Epamig) completed the restructuring of its State Research Programs in 2025, which will take effect from January 1, 2026. The changes comply with the guidelines of the 2026-2031 Master Plan and seek to align research activities with the technological demands of rural producers and agro-industries in the state.

Among the adjustments is the creation of the State Research Program on Sugarcane and Artisanal Cachaça, focusing on agronomic, technological, environmental, and productive aspects, aimed at the quality, sustainability, and valorization of cachaça from Minas Gerais. Programs for Precision and Digital Agriculture and Aquaculture were also structured, in addition to consolidating the Special Program in Biotechnology as a permanent research program.

The restructuring also included changes in nomenclature and expansion of scope in existing programs. The former Water Resources, Environment and Fish Farming program was renamed Environmental Resources and Forestry, while the Grains program was expanded to Grains, Fibers and Energy.

With these changes, Epamig now has 14 State Research Programs, organized to work in an integrated manner to meet the needs of the agricultural sector in Minas Gerais.
