The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved the final registration of the active ingredient. cyclobutrifluram (cyclobutrifluram)Tymirium is a nematicide and fungicide authorized for use on lawns, ornamental plants, romaine lettuce, as well as cotton and soybean seeds. The product is also known by the trade name Tymirium, from Syngenta.

Mitigation measures were adopted to avoid impacts on threatened species. The EPA conducted an ecological assessment and consulted with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The conclusion is that the authorized use should not negatively affect critical habitats.

Cyclobutrifluram has been approved for use in Australia, Argentina, and Brazil. Canada is reviewing a proposal for its use.

The substance should strengthen Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs by allowing rotation with other nematicides, reducing pest resistance in crops and green areas.
