Wheat planting is progressing in the south of the country under favorable weather conditions, while drought is beginning to increase losses in the second corn crop in parts of the Midwest and Matopiba regions. This data comes from the Weekly Crop Condition Monitoring report, released this week by the National Supply Company (Conab).

The sowing of wheat Planting has reached 41,1% of the planned area in the country. In Rio Grande do Sul, work is progressing at an initial pace, and the crops that have already emerged are showing good development. In Paraná and Santa Catarina, lower temperatures and good water availability are favoring the establishment of cultivated areas and the tillering of plants.

In Mato Grosso do Sul, residual soil moisture maintains suitable conditions for crop development, while in São Paulo the drier climate has contributed to better phytosanitary conditions. In Goiás, however, the prolonged lack of rain and high temperatures have compromised the performance of rainfed areas in the reproductive phase.

No first crop corn, The harvest has reached 84,6% of the cultivated area in the country. Minas Gerais and Rio Grande do Sul are registering good yields, exceeding initial estimates in some regions of Rio Grande do Sul. The harvest has already been completed in São Paulo, Paraná, and Santa Catarina.

For corn second harvestHowever, the scenario is more challenging. The harvest is still in its early stages, with only 0,6% of the area harvested, but there are already reports of losses caused by frost in Paraná and by water shortages in states such as Goiás, Minas Gerais, Maranhão, and Piauí.

In Goiás, the persistent drought accelerated the cereal cycle and brought forward the start of the harvest. In Minas Gerais, water stress is increasing productivity losses in most of the state. In Maranhão and Piauí, reduced soil moisture is already compromising the development of late-planted crops. On the other hand, Mato Grosso and Tocantins continue to register good production prospects. In Pará, weather conditions remain favorable in the main producing regions.

No second harvest beansRecent rains are benefiting some crops in Paraná and Santa Catarina, although they are also hindering the progress of the harvest. In Rio Grande do Sul, more than 80% of the area has already been harvested, while in Minas Gerais crops are predominantly in good condition.

For cottonConditions remain mostly favorable. In Mato Grosso, the reduction in rainfall is already causing localized effects in areas with sandy soils, while in Bahia the harvest has begun slowly. In Goiás and Piauí, crops maintain good development and a positive phytosanitary outlook.
