Dow AgroSciences, one of the largest science and technology companies for agribusiness in the world, announces the end of the 2017 “Agriculture Expedition for Life” program, reaching the milestone of 27 thousand kilometers traveled. The expedition is an itinerant project that promotes the training of agricultural professionals in good agricultural practices, assembled from a structure made up of a truck that takes the training throughout Brazil.
The project was launched at the end of last year. Between the months of January and September, the truck passed through 20 municipalities in all regions of the country. Its last destination will be the city of Primavera do Leste (MT) on the 20th and 21st of September. The main objective of the itinerant educational project is to disseminate Good Agricultural Practices among a technically qualified public (agronomists, agricultural technicians and consultants), providing in-depth knowledge about Weed Management, Integrated Pest Management, Worker Safety and Product Application Technologies phytosanitary products, which reinforces the company's commitment to the sustainability of agribusiness, performance and the income of rural producers.
“The Agriculture for Life Expedition, which began this year, has so far trained 900 people and has had great acceptance, both due to the differentiated format and the content presented by academic professionals and company researchers who provided the training. In 2018, we must expand this initiative to more municipalities and states in Brazil, in order to provide relevant, updated and regionalized information on topics that are so important for sustainability in the countryside”, says Ana Cristina Pinheiro, coordinator of Good Agricultural Practices at Dow AgroSciences.
The success of the project came from the pioneering spirit of developing a traveling truck measuring 7 meters long and 3,5 meters wide, with a trunk 100% adapted and divided into rooms, specially designed for quick assembly, without needing a large space. The training is delivered with dynamism and interactivity to groups of ten people per event, lasting four hours. Each theme has a theoretical presentation and three practical interactions that involve visually attractive environments with interactive games in which participants can test their knowledge, in a playful way, while passing through the truck stations.
The investment in technology and education is aligned with the company's objectives, which prioritize the importance of training to train and disseminate the best recommendations through integrated practices at all stages of the cultivation and production process.
