The end of the soybean void in Matopiba is approaching and preparations for new plantings are at an advanced stage, especially in relation to inputs and machines to be available at the right time.

According to the agribusiness advisor of the Association of Farmers and Irrigators of Bahia – AIBA, Luiz Stahlke, the estimate is that the areas to be cultivated with soy in Bahia will remain at around 1,6 million hectares. “We believe that for the new harvest, with good weather conditions and rainfall distribution, the west of the state will maintain its level of production and productivity” reinforces Stahlke.

According to data from Somar Meteorologia, for the next grain harvest in Matopiba, the forecast for rainfall is within or even slightly below average, as well as temperatures above normal until the start of the rainy season. In this way, the executive director of the Association of Seed Producers of the States of Matopiba-Aprosem, Ivanir Maia, highlights that with the expected delay in rains and high temperatures, greater care with soybean seeds is essential, especially with storage in controlled temperature until the days close to sowing.

Professor of Agricultural Mechanization at Unesp, Paulo Arbex highlights three essential points to guarantee good results in the upcoming harvest: “planning”, since the planting window will be concentrated; the “sowing speed”, as if it is excessive it will imply achieving good plantability and the “maintenance of the machines, leaving them ready to maximize the planting time.

Paulo Arbex will participate on September 27th, at the Luís Eduardo Magalhães Rural Producers Union - SPRLEM, in the “Planting Seminar 2019” with the lecture: “Plantability: Discover the secret of high productivity”. The event is organized by SPRLEM and the Association of Agricultural Machinery, Equipment and Implements Dealers of Western Bahia - Assomiba, with support from Aprosem.
