The Government of the State of Mato Grosso has warned cotton producers that the deadline for registering or updating the registration of production units with the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Defense (Indea) is approaching, which ends this Saturday (March 15). The measure is mandatory and aims to combat the main pest of the crop, the cotton boll weevil.

The cadastral update must be done annually, with the aim of preventing the spread of the cotton boll weevil ("Anthonomus grandis", click here) and to assist in the planning and execution of health defense activities for the crop in the state.

Producers who fail to comply with this obligation are subject to a fine of 10 Standard Fiscal Units (UPFs), equivalent to R$2.451,50.

Registration can be done in two ways: online, through the Plant Health Defense System (Sisdev), or in person, at one of the 140 Indea units spread across the state.

During the registration process, the producer must provide detailed information about their property and production, including producer data, information about the crop and the georeferenced area designated for cotton cultivation.
