For the first time, occupying the position of second largest cotton exporter in the world ranking, as shown by information from the Brazilian Association of Cotton Producers (Abrapa), Brazil is preparing to harvest around 2,8 million tons of cotton lint in 2019. Among the ten producing states, Mato Grosso stands out, responsible for 66% of national production.

In this scenario, growth opportunities also arise for farmer Gustavo Berto, a cotton producer for 20 years, at Fazenda Santa Laura, in Campo Verde (MT). According to research by the National Association of Cotton Exporters (Anea), in the second half of 2018 and the first half of 2019 alone, the Chinese already imported around 400 thousand tons of Brazilian cotton, representing 40% of the total number of vessels. With the increase in exports, improving the quality and consequent profitability of production has been essential for your property.

“We intend to continue investing and producing more and more so that we can meet this growing demand”, says the producer when analyzing market expectations. Berto has already achieved impressive numbers by using natural nutritional management tools on his crops in the last harvest. “With the use of these techniques, I obtained positive initial results, with an increase in productivity of around 20 arrobas per hectare”, he says.

According to agronomist Vinicius Abe, technical manager specialized in grains at Alltech Crop Science, the use of natural solutions based on amino acids and hormonal precursors promote physiological stimuli in the plant, resulting in gains in productivity. “In this way, there is better formation of the plant, mainly in its structural aspect, hormonal and nutritional balance, making it develop a better reproductive structure”, explains the engineer.

Quality

In addition to production demand, it is also important to pay attention to the quality of the product. Abe explains that the end result is a reflection of the nutritional and hormonal aspects of the plant. When these factors are well balanced, there is automatically better quality and length of cotton fibers.

Among the key nutrients that will help in the development of cotton, the expert highlights boron. “It acts as a physiological stimulant, which can be worked on via complexation with amino acids, thus improving the plant’s absorption capacity,” he says. This way, the specialist explains that it is possible to obtain more uniform bolls in greater quantities. Furthermore, Abe advises that producers pay special attention to the production system, extending management care to rotational crops that are interspersed with cotton planting.

One of the tools that can help cotton producers improve their production rates is Liqui-Plex CaMg+B, a product from Alltech Crop Science with nutrients based on calcium, magnesium and boron. The agronomist also recommends Liqui-Plex Bonder, a class A organomineral fertilizer, complexed with a high concentration of amino acids and Grain Set, based on plant extracts, amino acids and nutrients.
