External and internal cotton lint prices fell significantly in October. According to Cepea researchers, concerns about the demand for feather and textile products in the face of a possible global recession influenced the drop in values.

Furthermore, the retractions of the dollar and export parity reinforced the devaluation movement in Brazil as they led some trading companies to operate at more competitive prices throughout the month. Given this, the CEPEA/ESALQ Indicator, with payment in 8 days, accumulated a drop of 10,85% in October, ending the month at R$5,0442/lp.
