Cotton planting in Goiás is nearing completion

The percentage of the area sown with cotton in Goiás in the 2023/24 harvest reached 92,14% last Friday, March 10. The survey shows that planting is completed in three of the state's four cotton growing regions.

Only Region 4, made up of the municipality of Britânia, has not yet completed this stage of the harvest, as it follows a different Agrodefesa planting calendar, which foresees the sowing of cotton in this region in February. There, sowing reached 31,18% of the planned area, which corresponds to 3,56% of the entire area sown with cotton in Goiás.

In Region 1, planting was completed. Comprised of the municipalities of Goiatuba, Morrinhos, Palmeiras de Goiás, Santa Helena and Turvelândia, the area represents 11,6% of the total area to be planted in Goiás.

In Region 2, made up of the municipalities of Caiapônia, Chapadão do Céu, Mineiros, Jataí, Montividiu, Rio Verde and Perolândia, planting has also ended and represents 47,33% of the total in the state.

Region 3 corresponds to 30,19% at the state level, and encompasses the municipalities of Cristalina, Cabeceiras and Luziânia.

The survey is carried out by the Cotton Culture Incentive Fund in Goiás (Fialgo), which monitors planting on cotton farms throughout the state.
