Corteva Agriscience has intensified Good Agricultural Practices Actions in Rio Grande do Sul. The training, in person, with strict adherence to Covid-19 prevention protocols, is carried out in conjunction with the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development of the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

The number of farmers and applicators affected by the initiative will increase from 1,5 to 2. Despite the pandemic, work has progressed. At the same time, the company set up 20 meteorological stations in the state to provide producers with information that favors the safety and effectiveness of operations.

Training lasts 16 hours. One of the problems identified among the target audience of the initiative lies in the difficulty of choosing the correct nozzle required for the type of pesticide to be sprayed. To help producers reach the target more assertively, the company donated 3,5 air induction nozzles.

The initiative, which initially focuses on applications of the 2,4D herbicide, currently covers audiences from the most diverse crops and offers information on good practices in the use of all types of agrochemicals.

Less drift

In addition to investing in good practices to prevent drift, the company has also invested in offering new technologies for the 2,4 D herbicide. An example is the launch of Enlist Colex-D with reduced odor, low volatility and potential for reducing drift in up to 90%, according to the manufacturer.

For the second half of the year, Corteva plans to officially launch Soja Enlist, for the 2021/22 harvest. Corteva's Herbicide Portfolio Leader, André Baptista, explains that the new technology is a kind of evolution in weed control, by allowing the application of three herbicides (2,4-D, glyphosate and ammonium glufosinate).
