Corteva Agriscience announced four new crop protection products in the United States. The new solutions include three herbicides and a biological product and will protect a variety of crops, including corn, soybeans and cereals.
The herbicide Enversa (acetochlor), currently awaiting registration with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is a soybean residual solution that controls the most difficult weeds, including St. Mary's wort and Palmer amaranth. Enversa herbicide will be the preferred residual blending partner for Enlist One herbicide for Enlist E3 soybeans. In addition to soybeans, the Enversa herbicide will be labeled for several other crops, including cotton, corn and sorghum. Product availability is expected in 2024.
The herbicide Tolvera (tolpyralate and bromoxynil), currently awaiting EPA registration, is a cereal solution that will offer two modes of action, including an active ingredient new to the cereal market. It controls problem weeds such as pigweed, Russian hawthorn, St. Mary's wort, millet grass, marmalade grass and purslane. Tolvera herbicide will be available after obtaining EPA registration, which is expected before the 2024 harvest.
O Utrisha P (Phosphorous mobilization) is a biological product that helps farmers increase the return on investment in phosphate fertilizers by improving the availability of phosphorus below ground. Once applied, Utrisha P colonizes the crop's root zone and helps increase phosphorus access and reach throughout the season. Utrisha P complements traditional phosphate fertilizer and works with a wide variety of crops, including row crops such as corn, soybeans and wheat, and specialty crops such as potatoes, tomatoes and strawberries. Utrisha P is available in limited quantities for the 2023 harvest and will be more widely available for 2024.
The herbicide Kyro (acetochlor, clopyralid and topramezone) is a post-emergent solution for corn that is the first product on the market to combine acetochlor, topramezone and clopyralid in a premix. Kyro herbicide can be applied to corn up to 24 inches tall and controls more than 65 of the most difficult-to-control weeds, both grasses and broadleaf. Kyro herbicide is available in limited quantities for the 2023 harvest and will be more widely available in 2024.
