Sugar and ethanol production declines in the Center-South
Drop in total production contrasts with advances in biofuel made from corn
Registration is now open for the 2025/26 Summer Corn Productivity Competition. In this edition, Getap (Tactical Productivity Increase Group) plans to expand participation and surpass the 390 areas registered in the last cycle, setting a target of registering 500 areas. Expectations are based on the performance of the previous harvest and the consolidation of the regionalization format implemented for the first time in 2025, which places competitors in similar agronomic conditions and makes the competition more technical.
Interested parties can register through the official website (getap.agr.br), and the system allows the same producer to participate in different areas. It will also be possible to apply through event sponsors, using a funding voucher. Independent farmers (without sponsorship) will be provided with a code/coupon for free registration; if they opt for auditing, analysis services are not included.
Validation of the results will continue with an independent technical audit, considering indicators such as yield and population achieved, as well as the number and weight of grains per ear. Every producer, whether sponsored or not, receives a detailed report on the field results, management comparisons, and financial analysis.
The organization projects a summer of 2026 with new challenges, based on sharing practices that worked in the last harvest and the dissemination of management technology. "The goal is to see if it's possible to advance beyond recent figures, both in terms of the national average and record-breaking results, with data-driven agronomic decisions and fine-tuned strategies in each region," explains Gustavo Capanema, Getap's technical coordinator.
Winners will be recognized and announced during the Getap Forum, to be held next year (date to be determined). Additional information about registration, regulations, and auditing is available on the official website.
Getap is an initiative that brings together agribusiness experts to discuss relevant topics and disseminate knowledge and best practices in corn crop management, with the goal of encouraging efficient cultivation in Brazil. To this end, the corn productivity contest is held.
The initiative is curated by Céleres, in addition to important supporters such as ABPA (Brazilian Association of Animal Protein), Abramilho (Brazilian Association of Corn and Sorghum Producers) and Abisolo (Brazilian Association of Plant Nutrition Technology Industries).
