Summer grain harvest advances in RS
In the case of soybeans, the harvest reaches 19% of the cultivated area
According to data from the 6th survey by the National Supply Company (Conab), Tocantins has already exceeded 325 thousand hectares of corn in the current harvest, which is equivalent to 22,1% of the area planted in the last harvest, and production should reach more than 1,5 million tons of grains, which is equivalent to 38,6% more production than the previous harvest. In the next Conab survey, scheduled for April, these area and production numbers should be consolidated, showing an even greater evolution, both in the area and in corn production for the 2021/2022 harvest.
According to the agronomist from the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Aquaculture (Seagro), Antônio Cássio Oliveira Filho, the corn area in the 2021/2022 harvest is experiencing a significant increase, mainly in 2nd harvest corn (safrinha). “This increase was benefited by the climatic conditions that allowed soybean planting earlier and, consequently, there was a good window for the cultivation of corn in succession to the soybean harvest, and so far the climatic conditions have been favorable to the development of crops. , and thus, producers are waiting for higher productivity than the 2020/2021 harvest”, he highlighted.
The Agronomist also highlights that “Tocantins has been consolidating its agricultural areas, improving the fertility of its soils, increasing the number of agricultural machines, introducing new technologies, expanding storage capacity and investing in logistics to flow production, these factors allow producers to intensify their planting, mainly with the second corn harvest in all producing regions of the State”, he concluded.
Data from Conab shows that the areas with the largest corn cultivation, second harvest, are in the municipalities of Porto Nacional with 38,76 thousand hectares, followed by Caseara (35 thousand), Santa Rosa do Tocantins (30 thousand) and Campos Lindos with 21,8. XNUMX thousand hectares of corn planting.
