The Brazilian Agriculture and Livestock Confederation (CNA) has released a Technical Communication with guidelines on the mandatory issuance of Electronic Invoices (NFe) by rural producers. The issuance of digital NFes, which replaced physical invoices, will be effective as of February 3. This tax document is used to record the sale of agricultural products, “ensuring greater security, control and transparency in the sector’s operations.”

This new model was created by the National Council for Tax Policy (Confaz), which brings together the Finance Secretaries of the 26 states and the Federal District, and underwent several adjustments so that the sector could adapt to the new rule.

The February 3 deadline covers producers who issue an invoice destined for their own state (internal operations), with revenue exceeding R$360 thousand/year in 2023 or 2024, or for other units of the federation (interstate operations), regardless of the value and volume of revenue.

For producers with revenues of less than R$360 thousand, the obligation will begin on January 5, 2026. The NFe will be issued by the states and the Federal District.
