Concerned about the climate, coffee growers hold back

Coffee growers consulted by Cepea were concerned about the hot and dry climate in most of the Arabica and Robusta regions. For arabica, agents point out that some flowers, especially those opened in July, have been aborted in recent weeks. The impacts on the production of the next harvest, however, are still very low. On the other hand, rain has already been recorded in the regions of Garça (SP) in recent days. For the next fortnight, the forecast is also more positive, with rainfall above 50 mm in Franca (Mogiana – SP), Varginha (South of Minas), Patrocínio (Cerrado Mineiro), Manhuaçu (Zona da Mata – MG), Londrina ( PR), Linhares (ES) and Cacoal (RO), and 33 mm in Garça, according to Climatempo. 

This scenario, combined with the drop in futures for the variety in part of last week, withdrew producers consulted by Cepea from negotiations.
