Conab technicians begin visits to survey production costs in Rio Grande do Sul

Technicians from the National Supply Company (Conab) are in the state of Rio Grande do Sul to carry out surveys on the production costs of various agricultural products.

The work began this week and continues until next Friday (11). The products are bananas in Três Cachoeiras (8/8), juçara in Três Cachoeiras (9/8), araucaria pine nuts in São Francisco de Paula (10/8) and English potatoes in Santa Maria do Herval (11/8). In total, two employees from the Production Cost Management of the headquarters and two employees from the Conab Regional Superintendence in the state participated in the survey.

The criteria for selecting crops and municipalities are established according to the public policy to be met. The objective of the technical visit to the modal production unit is for technicians to identify and learn in advance the technological package adopted in the region.

In addition to characterizing the property, during the panel, participants describe the technological package providing data on technical coefficients, prices paid by the producer for seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, agricultural machinery and implements and services in the stages of soil systematization/correction, preparation soil, planting, cultural treatments and harvesting.

The production cost, calculated by Conab, represents the sum of the values ​​of all resources, such as inputs and services, used in the production process of agricultural activities. This information is obtained through panels, which are technical meetings in which participants in the production chain establish, by consensus, the characterization of the typical production unit in the region and indicate the technical coefficients related to agricultural inputs and the prices that make up the technological package. of this unit.

The objective of production cost is to serve as control and management of production activities. Through it, information is generated to assist in decision-making by rural producers and in the formulation of strategies by the public and private sector. The data is also used by the Federal Government as one of the main parameters in the preparation of minimum prices and in the calculation of guarantee values ​​used as a reference for the Price Guarantee Program for Family Farming (PGPAF).

Furthermore, they serve as a reference for calculations when obtaining credit through Financing for Agricultural Product Storage (FEE) and the Minimum Price Guarantee Policy (PGPM).
