Conab reports progress in the country's corn harvest

The latest Weekly Crop Condition Monitoring report, released by the National Supply Company (Conab), indicates progress in wheat sowing and the harvesting of the main second-crop cultures in Brazil. According to the document, weather conditions continue to be crucial for crop performance in the field, especially for second-crop corn and wheat crops under planting.

Wheat

Wheat sowing has reached 45,3% of the planned area in the country. In Rio Grande do Sul, the main national producer, planting is proceeding within the ideal window, favored by recent rains that have helped replenish soil moisture. In Santa Catarina and Mato Grosso do Sul, crops show good initial development, while in Paraná, excess moisture and cloudy days have impacted some areas.

Corn

In the first corn crop, harvesting has reached 87,7% of the cultivated area. Work is nearing completion in Minas Gerais and progressing in northeastern states, with notable yields exceeding those recorded in the previous cycle in some of the Piauí crops.

The second corn harvest has already begun and has reached 3% of the national area. In Mato Grosso, the main producer of the cereal, the dry weather favors the progress of operations and initial results indicate good yields. On the other hand, the lack of rain has reduced the productive potential in states such as Goiás, Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul.

Bean

In the second bean crop, harvesting is progressing in Paraná, Minas Gerais, and Rio Grande do Sul. Frosts, excess moisture, and low temperatures have caused localized losses in some producing regions in the south of the country.

Cotton

The cotton harvest has also begun, reaching 0,9% of the cultivated area. The crops generally show good development conditions, although producers in Mato Grosso do Sul are closely monitoring water availability in flowering areas.
