Conab announces rice purchase to support prices.

The National Supply Company (Conab) announced that it will purchase up to 137 tons of rice from the 2024/25 harvest, with the aim of building up stocks and ensuring a minimum price for farmers. The purchase was authorized by the Ministries of Agriculture (Mapa), Agrarian Development and Family Farming (MDA), and Finance (MF), and involves resources of approximately R$ 200 million. 

Edegar Pretto, president of the company, highlighted that the initiative fulfills the announcements made in partnership with rice-producing entities to address the devaluation of rice in the Brazilian market. Motivated by the drop in the price of the grain, given the good supply of the product on the market, the measure will benefit producers in states where prices are below the minimum established by the federal government. 

Terms and conditions for sale

Conab has set a sales limit of 189 tons per producer for this operation, which is equivalent to 3.150 60-kilo bags or 3.780 50-kilo bags. The expectation is to serve at least 700 farmers in the country. 

Furthermore, the purchase will only be finalized by the company if the producer meets the required standards. The acquired grain must be stored in storage units owned by or accredited by the state-owned company.

Conab reiterated that producers should only deposit the product in the warehouse after being summoned.

How to sell 

Those interested in selling rice to Conab must be registered in the National Rural Producers Registration System (Sican) and contact the company's regional office in their state for guidance on completing the required forms for the transaction, as well as submitting any additional documents that may be necessary.
