What will the weather be like in Brazil in March?
Rainfall is expected to be above average across much of the Northeast region.
The National Supply Company announced the release of R$ 73,6 million to support the marketing of rice from the 2025/26 harvest. The measure aims to move approximately 300 tons and sustain income in the face of falling prices. The announcement took place at the Opening of the Rice Harvest in Capão do Leão.
Of the total, R$ 61,3 million will go to Rio Grande do Sul, responsible for the largest share of national production. The volume in the state should reach 250 tons. Santa Catarina, Tocantins, Mato Grosso, and Maranhão are also included in the operation.
The president of Conab, Edegar Pretto, stated that the initiative meets the sector's demands and keeps producers in the business. Denis Dias Nunes, from Federarroz, cited the urgency for distribution.
The funds will be released through Pepro and PEP, instruments of the Minimum Price Guarantee Policy. These mechanisms are activated when the market value falls below the minimum set by Conab. In Rio Grande do Sul, producers receive an average of R$ 53,27 per 50-kilo sack. The minimum price in the state is R$ 63,74.
Under the Pepro program, the producer sells at market price and receives a supplementary premium after proving the sale of the product. Under the PEP program, the company buys at the minimum price and receives an incentive to remove the product from its origin or send it for processing.
Operations will begin following an interministerial decree from the Ministries of Agriculture, Agrarian Development, and Finance. Subsequently, Conab will publish notices with the rules and dates of the auctions.
