The coffee harvest in Cocari's area of operation suffered significant climate impacts in 2024. In Paraná, the production of processed Arabica coffee was 675,3 thousand bags, registering a 6% drop in relation to the previous cycle. In Goiás, production grew 13,9%, reaching 255,6 thousand bags, driven by the increase in cultivated area and positive bienniality.

Minas Gerais, which leads national production and is also part of the Cocari area, was the state most affected by the drought, harvesting 28,1 million bags, a reduction of 3,1% compared to 2023.

For 2025, Conab's first estimate predicts a harvest of 51,8 million bags in Brazil, a 4,4% drop due to the low biennial cycle and water restrictions. In Minas Gerais, production is expected to fall 11,6%, while Goiás and Paraná also project reductions.

Daniel Sales (pictured), a coffee specialist at Cocari, comments on the outlook for 2025. "Despite a year with a drop in production due to intense drought in 2024, 2025 has started off more encouraging. The high rainfall since October 2024 has resulted in grainy coffee beans, which could lead to a higher yield per bag. In addition, coffee bag prices are sky-high, further improving cost-benefit and providing greater profitability for producers," he concludes.

In a statement, the cooperative says it continues to offer technical support and solutions to optimize its members’ productivity.
