Cocamar Cooperativa Agroindustrial inaugurated today (20) its new grain receiving and storage unit in Água Boa, in the northern region of Mato Grosso (MT). Located 630 km from Cuiabá, the operational structure is the largest ever built by the cooperative and the first in the state. The forecast is to receive 150 thousand tons of soybeans in the ongoing 2024/25 harvest.
The unit is located on a 20-hectare plot of land and has four hoppers and two tippers, two dryers, four pre- and post-grain cleaning sets; a 110-ton bulk warehouse, five 9-ton silos, three scales, a four-lane classification system with two pneumatic tampers, a 4-square-meter input warehouse with air-conditioned space for seeds, as well as a store and administrative area. The construction work took one year.
In addition to soybeans and corn, Cocamar will also serve local producers by receiving and selling sesame, a product grown on a large scale in the municipality and surrounding areas. To this end, two hoppers, a dumper, a pre-cleaning machine, three silos for 5,4 tons and a shipping box with a flow scale were built.
Scheduled for 15 pm, the ceremony is expected to be attended by producers from the municipality and region and be attended by local authorities and leaders.
According to manager Claudemir Menegon, also known as Claudinho, the soybean crops have been receiving regular rainfall, with their cycle within normal limits. The expectation is for good productivity, in a scenario quite different from that observed in the previous season, when the region was severely affected by drought.
“We have high expectations for the start of our operations here in Água Boa,” says Claudinho, noting that one characteristic of the municipality is the presence of small and medium-sized farmers, many of whom come from Paraná, where they participated in cooperatives. And it was because of this cooperative history that they mobilized, in 2022, with the support of the city hall and the state government, to demand the installation of a Cocamar unit.
“Cocamar will bring more security to producers in their businesses,” emphasizes the manager, adding that in addition to logistics and providing technical assistance, the cooperative is a market regulator, both in terms of commodity prices and agricultural inputs.
Cocamar Agroindustrial Cooperative has a network of 115 units distributed across regions of Paraná, São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás and now in Mato Grosso.
