RS 2024/25 Harvest: Canola advances with good development
On the other hand, wheat faces challenges with heavy rainfall and the risk of fungal diseases.
The winter corn crop, now in its final harvest phase, is considered the best and most profitable in the Nova Andradina (MS) region since Cocamar arrived in the municipality in 2014.
The cooperative's unit manager, Wagner Carvalho, reports that averages are around 200 bags per alqueire, with more advanced producers reaching 250 and even 300 bags. "Receipts broke the previous record, set in 2022, of 48.095 tons, already reaching 48.200 tons. We expect to end the harvest with around 50.000 tons," he states.
Wagner emphasizes that advance sales and contracts signed with Cocamar contributed to improving profitability. Cooperative members also receive support from the cooperative's technical team, which is committed to fostering the adoption of technologies to increase productivity. "For a region like ours, with low altitudes, the averages achieved this year reveal the productive potential of corn, and cooperative members, in general, are very satisfied," he observes.
The good results with corn create an atmosphere of optimism among producers, with a view to preparing, from now on, for soybean sowing, which begins in October.
In the previous cycle, 2024/25, adverse weather conditions affected soybean productivity, and receipts fell 25% below estimates, according to the manager. "Now, we're preparing for a new cycle with renewed hope."
With its comfortable operational structure, which includes a bulk warehouse for 110 tons and a large store for the sale of agricultural inputs, Nova Andradina stands out among Cocamar's main units.
