The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) announced, through Ordinance No. 644, the update of the values of the classification and reclassification fees for Products of Plant Origin and the fees for Seeds and Seedlings. The measure comes into force on February 1st and revokes MAPA Normative Instruction No. 34, of September 9, 2014, and Interministerial Ordinance No. 531, of October 13, 1994.

The new values will be calculated based on a formula that considers the current nominal value and the 12-month accumulated correction index. For the rates applied to seeds and seedlings, the National Consumer Price Index (INPC) will be applied. For the rates applied for classifying and reclassifying products of plant origin, the Special Broad National Consumer Price Index (IPCA-E) will be applied.

Payment for public services provided will be made through the Union Collection Guide, which must include the Management Unit (UG) responsible for controlling the service provided, or through an automated process in an official system. The UG varies depending on the service provided, and may be the Secretariat of Agricultural Defense or the Federal Superintendence of Mapa in the federative unit where the interested party is established.

With the update of the value of classification and reclassification fees for products of plant origin, new products will be classified in indexes I to XIX of table 1 of Annex I of the Ordinance.
