After years of exclusively virtual meetings, the Citrus Production Chain Sector Chamber resumes face-to-face meetings with the workshop “Caminhos da Citricultura 2025”, on February 27, at 9 am, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture, in Brasília.
The event will bring together all links in the production chain to discuss priority issues and public policies that impact the sector. Among the central topics is the new legislation to combat greening, scheduled for the first half of the year, requiring adjustments to state regulations.
"I spoke personally with the Agriculture Secretaries of the main producing states, and everyone will be represented," says CitrusBR's executive director and president of the Sector Chamber, Ibiapaba Netto. The event will also provide updates on new molecules for phytosanitary control.
The international agenda will include the ratification of the trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Union, in addition to Brazil's tariff negotiations with India, China and South Korea. "We will have a high-level debate with authorities who follow these discussions on a daily basis. The sector needs to expand its consumer base, and finding new markets for Brazilian orange juice is essential," Netto emphasizes.
The meeting also seeks to strengthen the relationship with the Secretariat of Agricultural Policy, to which all sectoral chambers are linked.
"Oranges are the most consumed fruit in Brazil. We need to understand which financing instruments are available, especially in the Safra Plan, which prioritizes food on the consumer's table," explains Netto.
"We expect a meeting that represents the entire chain, from production to inputs, consolidating the chamber as a relevant player in discussions in the sector", he concludes.
