On February 5th and 6th, around 4 thousand coffee farmers from the Cerrado region of Minas Gerais will gather at the 10th Cerrado Fair, organized by Cooxupé, in search of technologies and new businesses to increase sustainability and boost production in the face of climate change effects on coffee plantations. With the theme “Agriculture and Climate Change: Resilience and Opportunities”, the event will run from 08 am to 18 pm, at the coffee cooperative’s headquarters in Monte Carmelo/MG.

The Cerrado Fair will feature over 12 products and 65 exhibitors of agribusiness brands set up in 85 stands. The total area is 50 m², of which 11 m² are covered. The platform of solutions and alternatives includes machinery, implements, equipment, tools and supplies for the agricultural sector.

Sustainability

Among the new products for 2025, the fair will present the launch of a compact plant for biochar production, which can be moved according to the producer's demands. This mobility optimizes the use of machinery and maximizes efficiency in the processing of waste generated during harvesting.

The equipment has a production capacity that varies between 1.000 and 1.200 liters of biochar per day, depending on the raw material used. The control panel allows speed and temperature adjustment and the reuse of the heat generated for drying or other processes. The compact plant promotes carbon sequestration, reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Other news and technologies

The Fair will also feature the “New Cultures Space”, consisting of stands and demonstration areas focused on the cereal segment for the cultivation of corn and soybeans, and also an area reserved for the demonstration of agricultural spraying drones so that cooperative producers can see in practice how this technology works and its benefits for crops.

A company specializing in cargo handling, present at the fair for the first time, will present cranes with hydraulic and manual extensions, with load capacities ranging from 2.670 kg to 30 tons. A manufacturer of spray tips for technical ceramic parts will offer coffee growers innovative solutions for the industry and agricultural sector.

“We will have companies that manufacture machines, implements and inputs for the cultivation of coffee and grains. Based on the theme, our challenge is to provide as much technical and accurate information as possible to cooperative producers so that they can anticipate purchasing, planting, harvesting and post-harvest actions, and so that they can bring solutions to their crops that enable greater productivity, sustainability and profitability,” explains Douglas Ferreira, machinery supervisor at Cooxupé.

For the president of the coffee cooperative, Carlos Augusto Rodrigues de Melo, “the Cerrado Fair is an opportunity for our members to learn about new technologies in the sector, acquiring them under special conditions, such as the Barter operation, for example, in which coffee is used as currency. In addition, it expands networking with the main brands in agribusiness, providing more knowledge and possibilities to increase production within sustainable guidelines and good agricultural practices”, he highlights.

Address

The Cerrado Fair has free entry and parking. The Cooxupé Center of Monte Carmelo is located on the banks of the MG 190 Highway, KM 3, s/nº.
