Brazilian coffee exports total 3,3 million bags in September
Performance increases shipments in the year to 26,2 million bags, a volume 9% lower than that recorded between January and September 2022
Cassava production in Goiás is expected to reach 207,7 thousand tons in 2023, which represents a growth of 10,1% compared to last year. Advances in planted area and productivity explain the good performance of cassava farming in the State. Estimates by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) show an expansion of 1,7% in the planted area, which should reach 11,9 thousand hectares, and an increase of 8,2% in average productivity, which should reach 17,5 tons per hectare.
IBGE data is part of the Systematic Survey of Agricultural Production (LSPA), published monthly. The new report projects a positive performance for other crops this year in Goiás. State orange production, for example, is expected to grow 7,0% (in relation to 2022) and reach 172,1 thousand tons. Grape and banana cultivation also have prospects for expanding in volume: 14,7% and 1,0%, respectively, reaching 2,2 thousand tons in the case of grapes and 201,9 thousand tons in the case of bananas.
“It is very good to see this growth because, firstly, it means a greater supply of food for the population, this has a nutritional and economic impact; and on the other hand, it helps to diversify the State's agricultural agenda”, assesses the Secretary of State for Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Pedro Leonardo Rezende. “Agro forte is agro that produces not only in quantity, but with diversity and quality, and this is what we can observe in Goiás’ production”, he adds.
Also according to IBGE, Goiás should register a 20% increase in the production of cereals, legumes and oilseeds in 2023. The agency's estimate is that Goiás' crops will deliver a total of 32,7 million tons of products such as cotton, rice, beans, sunflower, corn, soybeans, sorghum, wheat and other items. The performance should place the State in third place among the main grain producers in the country this year, behind only Mato Grosso and Paraná.
And projecting the 2023-2024 cycle, the National Supply Company (Conab) released a survey that points to the prospect of growth in first-crop rice and bean production in Goiás. Conab's estimate indicates that rice production in Goiás should total 84,3 3,3 thousand tons, an increase of 98,0% compared to the volume harvested in the previous cycle. First-crop bean production is expected to reach 4,0 thousand tons, an increase of 30,3% compared to the same period. Also according to the agency, state grain production should total 7,1 million tons, a decline of 2022% compared to the total for the 2023/XNUMX Harvest.
