Capal Rural Management Program boosts sustainability

The Capal Rural Management Program (PCGR) has stood out as an initiative that combines increased productivity, profitability and sustainability in agribusiness. Implemented since 2022, the program promotes annual audits and ongoing actions to evaluate and improve management and production practices on the properties of Capal members, based on a Manual of Sustainable Agriculture Practices.

The PCGR classifies properties into five sustainability levels, ranging from basic (levels 1 and 2) to advanced (bronze, silver and gold levels), based on the adoption of practices such as correct planting management, waste management, rational use of water, biodiversity and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

In 2024, the program included external audits and an annual closing event, which featured a talk by Vilmar Schussler, manager of Maltaria Campos Gerais, on certification and the impact of good practices on barley pricing. According to Ana Carla Rosgoski Chicanoski, environmental engineer at Capal, the PCGR is a gateway to new markets, by ensuring legal compliance and financial stability for producers.

With 117 criteria evaluated, the program offers continuous technical monitoring and a personalized action plan for each property, promoting gradual progress in the level of sustainability and encouraging practices that contribute to environmental conservation and the strengthening of agriculture.
