Capal's investments for expansion and improvement of units reach R$300 million

Capal Cooperativa Agroindustrial is making important investments that will expand the storage and receipt capacity of grains in the cooperative's units. The works package adds up to approximately R$300 million. In addition to modernizing existing structures, it will expand storage capacity by up to 30%.

Until June this year, just over R$72,7 million had been allocated for works that are in progress. At the Itararé/SP unit, for example, R$26 million is being invested in the construction of storage silos, expansion of the road scale, shipping and sample collection. The works are expected to be completed in October this year.

In Curiúva/PR, renovations and new structures include construction of lung silos, adaptation of a hopper for a second tipper, silo/shipping interconnection walkway, electrical substation and transformer room. The amount transferred to subsidize the works was R$14 million.

“Capal has a robust investment plan. The work in Itararé is an expansion of storage, where we will increase capacity by up to 60% to provide greater peace of mind for producers in the region to deliver their production. In Curiúva, the works will flow quickly to speed up the transshipment part so that the cooperative can load the production and bring it to other units on the same day”, explains Lourenço Teixeira, Industrial Director at Capal.

New units

Expansion and construction of new units of the cooperative are planned for the second half of 2023, which, together, total R$182 million.

The municipality of Avaré/SP will receive an operational unit. The structure has an administrative sector, input warehouse, buffer silos and storage silos – both with a capacity of 50 thousand tons.

According to Teixeira, the opening in Avaré is to meet the demand of cooperative members in the region who direct their production to the Taquarituba unit or reserve it in rented warehouses. “Avaré is a bigger project. We are defining the flow, equipment, budgets, licensing, energy requests and other requirements for the project to be implemented. Once we have the necessary resources, we will begin hiring. I believe that the works should begin by the end of this year”, he predicts.

In Santo Antônio da Platina/PR, the construction of a new agricultural store is planned. The new space, which will be 3 thousand m² in size, also includes a pesticide warehouse and an input warehouse with a dock. The total investment was R$9 million. “Santo Antônio da Platina will have a new cooperative business unit to provide greater peace of mind and comfort to producers in that region, who are currently served by the Joaquim Távora unit”, explains Lourenço.

Completed

In the first half of 2023, Capal completed the expansions at the headquarters in Arapoti/PR, with the construction of silos for the feed raw material, silos for grain storage, construction and installation of a grain drying set with an exchanger heat, in addition to the construction of a new building for the engineering, maintenance and workshop sectors. The capital to subsidize the works was R$31 million.

At the Seed Processing Unit, in Wenceslau Braz/PR, the cooperative completed the construction of a seed warehouse, installation of an automated big bag transport system, installation of a new grain treatment unit, adaptation of an elevator shaft for dryer and expansion of seed reception and drying capacity with the construction of two new dryers.
