Caixa recorded a 35% growth in the contracting of rural credit at the beginning of the 2017/2018 harvest, compared to the same period of the last harvest. From July 1st to September 21st, the bank lent R$800 million in mandatory, free resources and from the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), the majority of which was used to cover production costs. The expectation is that this upward movement will continue, driven by the promotional reduction of up to one percentage point in interest rates, announced at the beginning of the month.

“The volume of proposals tripled in September, after the campaign with promotional rates was announced. The daily average went from R$39 million to R$116 million”, highlights Fábio Lenza, Vice President of Retail Products at Caixa. Valid until the end of this month, the reduction in interest rates encompasses the funding lines for individual producers, cooperatives and agro-industries, and marketing and industrialization for cooperatives, which once again counted on mandatory resources after the publication of Resolution 4.597 from the National Monetary Council (CMN), on August 28th.

According to Caixa's vice-president of Retail Products, producers who take out rural credit from Caixa will have significant savings. “Whoever finances R$1 million in September, for example, will pay R$8.000 less in their installment next year. If the financing is R$3 million, which is the maximum limit, this savings can reach R$24 thousand in installment value”, explains Lenza. “It is an advantage that is being noticed by producers.”

how to hire

Cooperatives and producers can take out rural credit from Caixa at any of the more than 1.700 authorized agencies across the country. To support these customers, the bank has a network of 2.600 partner technical assistance offices, which have consultants qualified to prepare rural credit proposals.

For agricultural funding operations of up to R$500, approval is carried out at the agency itself, through Costeio Fácil Caixa. Operations with larger values are handled in a centralizing table. “If no documents are missing, the analysis is carried out within five working days. The process is completely digitalized, without bureaucracy”, says Lenza.
