Bunge and Nutrien Ag Solutions today announced a commercial agreement to support US farmers in implementing sustainable agricultural practices related to the development of low-carbon products.
The initial program will focus on soybeans grown in regions near Bunge's crushing facilities in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Decatur, Indiana, with the opportunity for future expansion to other locations and crops such as corn and wheat. The program targets the 2023/2024 harvest and is expected to include practices such as cover crops, reduced tillage, nutrient management and responsible pesticide use.
Nutrien Ag Solutions plans to provide agricultural consulting services, custom applications, soil, water and tissue analytical testing, traceability and data collection through its Agrible platform.
Bunge plans to contract with these producers and manage harvest and post-harvest marketing.
