Brazilian fruit exports recorded a significant increase in value from January to September 2024, with growth in some fruits, such as apples and lemons, standing out. However, the export volume of some fruits fell slightly due to adverse weather conditions, such as excessive rainfall in producing regions, especially in the first half of the year, which impacted production.

From January to September 2024, the value of Brazilian fruit exports increased by 8,51% compared to the same period in 2023, while the volume exported fell by 3,34%, according to official data from AgroStat/Mapa, reflecting the challenges faced by national production.

The total value of mango exports grew by 46,19%, from US$ 147 million in 2023 to US$ 215 million in 2024. Despite this significant increase in value, the volume of mangoes exported fell slightly by 0,16%, totaling 141 thousand tons. This phenomenon reflects the increase in the international price of the fruit, offsetting the slight decrease in volume due to the weather conditions that affected the harvest.

Another highlight was the growth in exports of lemons and limes, which showed a 14,52% increase in value, reaching US$ 155,7 million. The volume exported also grew by 9,16%, demonstrating the good acceptance of the fruit in the international market and the increase in global demand.

In the case of melons, the exported value increased by 7,72%, totaling more than US$ 102 million, and the volume grew by 12,92%, exceeding 133 thousand tons. This increase reflects the recovery of production in areas less impacted by the rains.

On the other hand, some fruits saw a drop in export volume, such as grapes, which saw a 48,79% reduction in value and 54,32% in export volume. The drop in grape exports is attributed to excessive rainfall, which affected the availability of the fruit for export.

Despite adverse weather conditions, the Brazilian fresh fruit sector continues to stand out in the international market, driven by effective commercial strategies and the high demand for tropical fruits. The positive performance of fruits such as mangoes, lemons and melons demonstrates the resilience and recovery capacity of national producers.
