The domestic consumption of Cafés do Brasil, in the twelve months, specifically in the period from November 2022 to October 2023, reached a total physical volume equivalent to 21,67 million 60kg bags. Based on the data, it is estimated that per capita consumption in the country was 6,4 kg in the period.
As the 2023 coffee year harvest was estimated at 55,07 million 60kg bags, it appears that domestic consumption in this period corresponded to approximately 39,4% of the total production of Cafés do Brasil. Thus, this consumption performance registered a slight increase of 1,64%, compared to the previous period, which, in this case, was 21,32 million bags. However, as the previous coffee year's harvest was slightly smaller, around 50,9 million bags, its respective domestic consumption, proportionally, obviously represented a higher percentage (41,9%) compared to the 2022 harvest.
In this same context of Brazilian Coffee consumption in the period analyzed, the participation, in descending order, of the five Brazilian geographic regions was highlighted. Thus, it appears that consumption in the Southeast Region, which was equivalent to 9,0 million 60kg bags, corresponded to 41,76% of national demand, and that, next, comes the Northeast Region, with 5,82. 26,9 million bags, consumption equivalent to XNUMX% of the national total.

According to data from the Coffee Industry indicators released by the Brazilian Coffee Industry Association (Abic), it is estimated that sales by the coffee industry in Brazil, in 2023, reached the amount of R$22,9 billion, which recorded a slight drop of 2,78%, if this performance is compared to that of the previous year, 2022. The Association attributes this variation in the coffee industry's revenue to the reduction in the price of the product registered on the shelves of the country's markets.
In this sense, Abic highlights that the Gourmet coffee and Superior coffee categories recorded drops in their prices, respectively, of 10,71% and 11,78%. Furthermore, the same phenomenon was recorded with Traditional and Extra-strong coffees, which also saw a drop of 10,21%, in addition to capsule coffees also recording a drop in sales prices to consumers equivalent to 7,76%. . On the other hand, ABIC highlights in its evaluation report that the average price of specialty coffees increased by 3,15%, if the sales values of January 2023 are compared with December 2023.
