Exports of Coffees from Brazil, in the accumulated 12 months, from May 2022 to April this year, totaled a physical volume equivalent to 36,64 million 60kg bags, which generated exchange revenue of US$8,44, 230,35 billion, whose average unit price per bag was US$243. During this period, the highest average price recorded, US$2022, occurred in October 211,24, and the lowest, US$XNUMX, in February of this year.

It is also worth noting that, in the period highlighted in Brazil's Coffee exports, of the total volume mentioned of 36,64 million bags, 32,85 million bags were of green coffee, which represented 89,7% of this total, being 31,47 million bags of Coffea arabica, approximately 86%, and 1,37 million bags of Coffea canephora (robusta and conilon), which represented 3,7% of the overall total. In addition, the equivalent of 3,74 million bags (10,2%) were also exported in the form of soluble coffee, in addition to 45,2 thousand bags of roasted and ground coffee, representing around 0,1% .

Over the past 10 months, if exports from the beginning of the current Brazilian crop year are considered, which began in July 2022, it appears that exports of Brazilian Coffees reached 30,49 million bags and raised US$6,99 billion in revenue. This performance denotes a decline of 9,1% in volume, but, on the other hand, an increase in foreign exchange revenue of 4,6%, compared to the same previous period of the 2021-2022 harvest.

Additionally, it is also worth highlighting that Brazilian coffee exports, in the first four months of this year, that is, from January to April 2023, the country exported 11,09 million bags, a volume that represents a drop of 19,9% , compared to the 13,85 million bags sold in the first four months of the previous year. In terms of revenue, this drop in physical volume caused a decrease of 25%, as foreign exchange revenue declined from US$3,2 billion to US$2,4 billion, on the same comparative basis with the previous year.

Finally, in the same context of this analysis, it should be noted that Brazilian coffee exports, exclusively in the month of April this year, reached 2,72 million 60 kg bags, a volume that implied a drop of 10,3% in comparison with the 3,03 million bags registered in the same month of 2022. Thus, last April, with an average price of US$ 222,08 per bag, foreign exchange revenue totaled US$ 604,5 million, a performance that represents a decrease of 16,9%, compared to the same month of the previous year.

In addition, it should be noted that the numbers and data on the export performance of Cafés do Brasil that are the subject of this analysis, among many other relevant data from the sector, are available on the Monthly report – April 2023, from the Brazilian Coffee Exporters Council – Cecafé, which is available in full at the Coffee Observatory of the Consórcio Pesquisa Café, coordinated by Embrapa Café.

Finally, it is also worth highlighting the six main countries that import Coffees from Brazil, in the first four months of 2023. Thus, according to Cecafe's April – 2023 Monthly Report, the United States continues to be the main importer of the Brazilian product, which purchased 2,05 million bags, whose registered volume was 19,2% lower than that sold in the same period in 2022, despite US purchases representing 18,5% of total exports.

In this ranking, in second place, comes Germany, with a share of 12,9% in total Brazilian Coffee imports, having acquired 1,43 million bags, a number that registered a drop of 46,5%, in comparison with the same previous period. In third place, Italy stands out, with imports of 924,78 bags, which also recorded a 22,7% drop in purchases of the Brazilian product; followed by Japan, in fourth, with 646,09 thousand bags, whose purchases remained stable; and, in fifth, Belgium, with 555.074 bags (-61,2%); and, subsequently, Colombia, despite being the third largest coffee producer in the world, after Brazil and Vietnam, purchased 434,63 60kg bags of Cafés do Brasil, a number that represented a drop of 1,9%, in same comparative basis.
