Agricultural products account for 21% of movement in Brazilian ports

Brazilian Coffee exports in October 2020 registered a new historical record for the month, reaching 4,1 million 60kg bags, a volume 11,5% higher than in October 2019. Arabica coffee was responsible for 81,4. 3,3% of shipments with 12,4 million bags, an increase of 11,5% compared to October last year. Conilon coffee had a share of 471,8%, with exports of 31,4 thousand bags, a number that represents an increase of 7,1%, in the same comparative terms. Instant coffee was responsible for 288,4% of exports with a volume equivalent to XNUMX thousand bags.
The foreign exchange revenue generated by Cafés do Brasil exports in October 2020 was US$509,6 million, an increase of 8,5% compared to the revenue generated in October last year. This increase becomes even more significant if we convert the value into reais, considering the average dollar exchange rate of approximately R$5,63 in October 2020, with export revenue in Brazilian currency reaching around R$2,9. 49,4 billion, the highest revenue in the last five years, which registered a significant increase of 2019% compared to October 2020. The foreign exchange revenue generated from exports of Cafés do Brasil, in the first ten months of 4,4, was US$ 3 billion, with an increase of 22,7%. When converted into reais, the value was equivalent to R$35,2 billion, which represents a growth of XNUMX% compared to the same period last year.
When analyzing the numbers for the current calendar year, January to October 2020, it is possible to verify that, despite the atypical year and with unpredictable factors, the volume and revenue of Brazilian coffee exports are the highest in the last five years. In the first ten months of 2020, Brazil exported 35 million bags of coffee, an increase of 1,9% if this volume is compared to the same period last year. Arabica coffee had a 78,4% share in exports in 2020, with 27,5 million bags, while shipments of conilon coffee corresponded to 12% of the total, with 4,2 million bags, and, with 9,5 % of shipments, soluble coffee exported the equivalent of 3,3 million bags. It is worth highlighting the 23,4% increase in conilon coffee exports compared to the same period last year.
It is worth highlighting, according to data released by Cecafé, in the Monthly report October 2020, the top ten destinations for Brazilian Coffee exports, from January to October 2020, in a ranking in descending order. In first place is the United States, which imported 6,4 million bags of coffee, which corresponds to 18,4% of the total sold in the period; then comes Germany, with 5,9 million bags imported (16,8%); Belgium, in third, with 2,9 million bags (8,2%); Italy, next, with 2,5 million bags (7,3%); and Japan, in fifth place, with 1,8 million bags (5,1%).
Next, in sixth place, comes Turkey, with 1,1 million bags (3,2%); Russian Federation, in seventh, with 1 million bags (2,9%); Mexico – eighth – with 897 thousand bags (2,6%); Spain, ninth place, with 784 thousand bags (2,2%); and, finally, Canada, in tenth place, with imports of 708 thousand bags, a physical volume that corresponds to 2% of Brazilian Coffee exports in the period in question. In this context, it is worth highlighting the fact that Belgium showed an increase in purchases of Brazilian coffee in this period of around 33,5%.

With specific regard to differentiated coffees – which are coffees that have superior quality or some type of certificate of sustainable practices – Brazil exported 6 million 60kg bags, in the period from January to October 2020, this volume represented 17,2% of the total exports of Cafés do Brasil in the year, generating foreign exchange revenue of US$ 980,4 million, responsible for 22,16% of all foreign exchange revenue generated with exports of Cafés do Brasil in the current calendar year.
