Seminar on Rural Education already has 350 registrants from 16 Brazilian states
Event takes place at UFSCar Campus São Carlos between the 26th and 28th of July
With the aim of bringing together the entire biological pesticide production chain to discuss scenarios, the current market, trends, guidelines and challenges for strengthening the segment, the Brazilian Biodefensive Forum. The result of a partnership between ABC Bio – Brazilian Association of Biological Control Companies and Informa Agro, the event will bring together the main members of the biodefensive production activity, including, in addition to companies, representatives of regulatory and supervisory bodies, government agents, researchers , technicians, agricultural producers and input distributors. Examples of success in the application of biodefensive products will also be presented at the meeting.
After the opening ceremony, which will be carried out by the president of ABC Bio, Gustavo Herrmann and whose theme will be Building a Proposal Agenda and Mechanisms for Strengthening Biodefenses in Brazil, the panel on The Biodefensive Registry in Brazil. Representatives from Anvisa – National Health Surveillance Agency, Ibama – Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply must participate in this panel. Topics relating to Optimization of Processes in Regulatory Bodies, How to Ensure the Quality of Biodefensives After Registration and Biofactories on Farms and the Risks to Health, Safety and the Environment. A representative from Embrapa – Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation will be responsible for moderating the debates.
Then there will be the panel about Financing Lines for Biodefensive Production, which will feature the participation of representatives from BNDES – National Bank for Economic and Social Development, and Finep, a body that stimulates research and innovation linked to the Ministry of Science and Technology. At every interval, participants will be able to discover innovative biodefensive solutions in an exhibition space that will be set up next to the auditorium.
Thematic tables are being scheduled in the afternoon of the first day, which will simultaneously debate topics such as Registration in Practice, to learn in detail about the rules and procedures for product registration; Distribution of Biodefensives, in which aspects of the resale of biodefenses will be discussed; and a table focused on Production Technology, where research challenges will be discussed. There will also be a table dedicated to sharing experiences between agricultural producers who use biological control. Forum participants will be able to choose the table that interests them most.
At the end of the first day there will be a specific panel with two lectures on Biodefensive Formulation, in which the challenges in developing effective and economically viable solutions will be analyzed. Afterwards, a series of four testimonials from companies still in the definition phase will be scheduled.
At the opening of the second day, a lecture will be given on Future, Technology and Sustainability, whose objective is to discuss what the dynamics and integration between technologies will be like in the coming years and how they will contribute to sustainability in Brazil and the world. Two other lectures will also be promoted on Innovations in Biodefensive Application Technology, whose speakers are still being defined.
The event promoters also scheduled a panel that will deal with the analysis between Biological and Chemical Pesticides, whose content will address the complementary role of biological in relation to chemical pesticides, as pests become more resistant and migrate between crops. This part will also discuss Integrated Pest Management and the interaction between chemicals and biologicals to minimize the risks of resistance and reduce the population density of pests.
Another panel that should arouse great interest from participants is the one that will address Success Stories of Biodefensive Application which will feature testimonials about the effectiveness of biodefensive products in reducing diseases and increasing productivity in the production of: sugar cane, fruit and vegetables, cereals and coffee. In the afternoon of the second day, the theme will be how to break the paradigm and raise awareness among producers about the effectiveness of biodefensive products. The importance of technical assistance will also be discussed as a way of guaranteeing correct management and the results expected by agricultural producers.
Finally, there will be a sequence of four lectures that will deal with different aspects related to the Domestic and International Consumer Market. Above all, the effects of the growing demand from consumers for more sustainable and healthier products will be analyzed and how this puts pressure, from retailers to producers, to deliver these products, which directly implies the selection of agricultural inputs. In addition to these points, the Organic Market in Brazil and Consumer Trends in Brazil and the World will also be discussed.
The Brazilian Biodefensive Forum has the following support: Agrishow, ANDEF – National Association for Plant Defense, EsalqTec – Technological Incubator, Brazilian Federation of Direct Planting and Irrigation (Febrapd), Global Agro Chemicals, Informa Economics IEG, Instituto Biosistéticos, Sociedade Entomológica of Brazil, National Agricultural Society (SNA), Brazilian Rural Society (SRB).
