Brazilian Agribusiness Congress 2021 will honor personalities from the sector

On August 2nd, big names in national agribusiness will be honored by the sector's production chain during the 20th Brazilian Agribusiness Congress, organized by the Brazilian Agribusiness Association (ABAG), in partnership with B3, A Bolsa do Brasil. One of the most important events in the agro universe will pay special tribute to the agronomist and former minister Alysson Paolinelli, nominated for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize. With a talent for revolutionizing economic sectors, in 1971, as Secretary of Agriculture of Minas Gerais, he created incentives and technological innovations that transformed the state into the largest coffee producer in Brazil. In 1974, as Minister of Agriculture, he carried out the modernization of Embrapa and promoted the economic occupation of the Brazilian Cerrado. It was during this period that he implemented a bold scholarship program for Brazilian students in the largest agricultural research centers in the world. He also took care of the restructuring of agricultural credit and a new approach to the occupation of the Amazon biome.

The Ney Bittencourt de Araújo – Agribusiness Personality 2021 award will be awarded to the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA), Tereza Cristina, for her dedicated and valuable work for the development of the entire production chain. Tereza Cristina was president of the Parliamentary Front for Agriculture, superintendent of the National Rural Learning Service (Senar) and secretary of Agrarian Development, Production, Industry, Commerce and Tourism of the State Government of Mato Grosso do Sul (Seprotur) and has already been awarded in the category “Best deputies” in the 11th edition of the Congresso em Foco Award, a vehicle specialized in covering the National Congress; She was among the 10 best-rated parliamentarians in the Chamber of Deputies and was recognized as the greatest defender of Brazilian agribusiness by receiving the award in the “Agricultural Defense” category in the same edition.

The Norman Borlaug Award – Sustainability 2021 will be awarded to agricultural engineer Celso Moretti, president of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation - Embrapa. Master and doctor in plant production and specialist in production engineering with an emphasis on business management, he has been at the institution since 1994, holding various positions, including executive director of Research and Development. He has been a guest professor at the University of Florida (USA) since 2006 and author of book chapters, editor of technical books and author and co-author of technical-scientific works in national and international journals.

The 20th Brazilian Agribusiness Congress will bring together thousands of professionals to debate the central theme Our Carbon is Green. In three panels: Clean and Sustainable Energy, Green and Competitive Brazil, and The Future of Agribusiness in World Trade, participants will have the opportunity to watch experts' assessments, collaborating to expand their understanding of each topic.
