The Costa Rican government has just announced authorization for Brazil to export avocados to the country. This is the third market opening for Costa Rica in 2024, which should contribute to an increase in trade flow between the two countries. With the announcement, Brazilian agribusiness reaches its 89th market opening this year, totaling 167 openings in 55 destinations since the beginning of 2023.

Costa Rica is an important destination for Brazilian agribusiness products. In the first half of this year, Brazil's agricultural exports to that market totaled US$153 million.

In February, Brazil opened the Costa Rican market to export products based on mesenchymal stem cells from dogs, cats and horses for therapeutic purposes. Furthermore, in July, the market for the export of live horses was opened.

The results are the result of joint work between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
