Exports of soybeans and bran grow in 2023
Soybeans grow from 92,3 million tons measured in the previous projection to 93,7 million in the current balance
Producers in Paraná are completing the commercialization of the first 2022/2023 bean harvest. 197 thousand tons were produced in an area of 115 thousand hectares. Despite weather problems, the harvest was considered to be of high quality, resulting in better remuneration for the producer. The information comes from the Department of Rural Economy (Deral), of the Paraná Department of Agriculture.
Last week, farmers received an average of R$403 for a 60kg bag of colored beans and R$267 for black beans. The second bean crop is expected to produce 589 thousand tons and should be harvested from May onwards.
In mid-May, when the harvest of the second crop intensifies, there should be a greater supply of beans for the market. The second harvest occupies an area of 296 thousand hectares and the production forecast is 589 thousand tons. So far, the climate has been favorable and 92% of the areas occupied with beans are in good condition, and 8% in average condition. Around 35% of the cultivated area is in vegetative development, while 41% of the areas are in flowering, 21% in fruiting and 3% in maturation. All of these phases are still vulnerable to weather conditions.
The planting of the second 2022/23 corn harvest has been completed in Paraná. It is estimated that 2,5 million hectares were planted, 8% less than in the previous harvest. The delay in the soybean harvest resulted in a smaller planted area of the cereal. In the field, farming conditions remain good for 97% of the area; only 3% have an average condition.
Finally, soybean and wheat producers face difficulties due to low market prices. A drop of approximately 18% was recorded in the price received by soybean producers. The bag, which was worth R$172,00 in April 2022, is now sold for less than R$140,00. According to Deral, the lower prices in the domestic market can be explained by the Brazilian super harvest, exchange rate variation and logistical issues.
