Bayer is showcasing the Mateno Pós herbicide for weed management in wheat crops at Expodireto Cotrijal 2026. The solution acts post-emergence and combines two mechanisms of action. The product will be available on the market for the 2026 harvest and expands the control tools available to wheat farmers.

The herbicide combines two active ingredients: diflufenicam, a carotenoid inhibitor; and sodium iodosulfuron-methyl, an ALS enzyme inhibitor. This combination broadens the spectrum of control and contributes to the management of broadleaf weeds and grasses.

According to the company, the product is selective for wheat and integrates management strategies in one of the most challenging aspects of the crop: weed control. The technology allows application after the emergence of both the crop and the weeds, with a recommendation for use right at the beginning of weed development.

The label indicates control of species such as black oats (Avena strigosa), ryegrass (Annual ryegrass), horseweed (conyza bonariensis), deer vine (Polygonum convolvulus), turnip (Raphanus the radish), black walleye (bidens pilosa) and volunteer soybeans. The recommendation includes ground foliar application, at doses ranging from 0,75 to 1 liter per hectare, in a spray volume of approximately 200 L/ha.

Bayer is also preparing new technology to enhance wheat crop management. Mateno Pré, with pre-emergence action, is expected to reach the market in the 2027 growing season. The strategy involves combining pre- and post-emergence applications to reduce weed pressure and promote the expression of wheat's productive potential.
