Bayer, during the Andav 2026 Congress, is presenting information about the Plenexos platform, developed for the management of sucking pests. The solution contains the active ingredient pidoxamate. It initially focuses on whiteflies and includes products intended for different crops. According to Erick Cancian (pictured), the company's insecticide leader, the technology aims to reduce the pest population by controlling it at the nymph stage. The product is in the final registration phase in Brazil.
Cancian explains that whitefly pressure has gained importance in recent harvests. High temperatures and dry spells favor shorter pest cycles and increase the number of individuals in the crops. According to him, the initial stages account for the largest share of damage caused by the insect. The platform acts on all nymph stages, aiming to interrupt population growth.
Bayer also highlights the selectivity towards natural enemies. This attribute allows the tool to be integrated into integrated pest management programs and strategies with biological control. The company also reports systemic action in different parts of the plant and flexibility of use in management.
The portfolio includes applications in soybeans, cotton, citrus, tomatoes, potatoes, and beans. Targets include whiteflies, aphids, and citrus psyllid. In soybeans and beans, the indicated focus is on whiteflies. In cotton, the product covers whiteflies and aphids. In citrus, the indication involves psyllid. Tomatoes and potatoes include combinations of whiteflies and aphids.
According to Cancian, different formulations of the platform could reach approximately 50 crops. He also highlighted the formulation's compatibility with mixtures and the proposal to combine control efficiency with the preservation of beneficial organisms.
